It's Spring - and it is time to eat fresh and eat local.
Come get acquainted with Slow Food Hampton Roads, a group dedicated to supporting farmers, farmers markets and restaurants offering fresh and local eats --- all while having fun and learning something along the way.
Join us for cocktails at Croc's 19th Street Bistro, site of the Old Beach Farmers Market, in an informal get-together of folks who support local eating - or who want to know more.
There will be some green/eco friendly drinks, food sampling, a resource guide for local eats, and recipe cards to get you started. There will even be THE definitive guide for making the most of your farmers market shopping.
There will also be information about how to join Slow Food, a worldwide group dedicated to preserving regional foods and foodways.
The event is free and open to all (but you do have to pay the nice folks at Croc's for your cocktails) --- it's the perfect time of year to learn more about this important movement with farmers markets in our area opening up.
